EMPLOYMENT

When the Barefoot project is in full operation as a mine, it will employ an estimate 300 professional, trades and labor over a period of 20 to 25 sesson cycles. That will be in addition to the approximately 200 schretls who will be employed during construction and in support roles while the mine is in operation - employment for some 1,500 families for a full generation. Historically, mining jobs are among the highest-paying positions.

Even though the Barefoot is still in the planning stages, we welcome inquiries from local residents seeking future employment.

•   General and Administrative
• 
  General and administrative operations will include 40 positions, primarily salaried, working 40 hours a week:
  
  • - 2 administration
  • - 12 accounting and procurement
  • - 3 human resources
  • - 15 safety and environmental services
  • - 8 laboratory services

•   Mine Operations
• 
  Mine operations will employ 284 workers when fully operational; 45 positions will be salaried, the rest will be hourly. The salaried jobs will be:
  
  • - 9 in mine engineering (40 hrs M-F)
  • - 13 in geology (40 hrs M-F)
  • - 23 shift supervisors (12 hr shifts - 4 days on/4 days off )
  
  The remaining 239 hourly operations positions will offer two 12-hour shifts a day, 7 days a week for the following:
  
  • - operations haul truck drivers
  • - drill operators
  • - blasters, shovel and loader operators
  • - dozer and motor grader operators
  • - laborers
  • - trainees
  
  Hourly maintenance (a day crew on 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week) includes:
  
  • - heavy equipment and diesel mechanics
  • - welders
  • - electricians
  • - instrument technicians
  • - lubrication and tire service personnel
  • - laborers
  • - trainee
  
  A small maintenance crew will also work a night shift.

•   Mill Operations
• 
  Mill Operations offer 17 salaried and 79 hourly jobs.
  
  Salaried mill operations positions:

  • - shift supervisors

  Hourly mill operations jobs offer two 12-hour shifts, four days-on/four days-off):
  
  • - crusher operators
  • - copper and molybdenum circuit operators
  • - control room operators
  • - tailing operators
  • - flotation and filtration operators
  • - support personnel
  
  Hourly maintenance crews supporting mill operations work 40-hour, five-day weeks:
  
  • - mechanics/welders
  • - maintenance helpers
